| Customer Reviews: good reference March 30, 2009 Kim (San Diego, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Overall, I am pleased with its content. It is clearly written. The topics are covered in a nice way that is comprehensive. The treatment of topics is balanced. Some topics are overemphasized but that may be necessary for people who are beginners in the field.
Many books are available in this field, but I believe this one is very comprehensive, especially emphasizing wimax and Lte technology no other book has done.
One guide for 4G March 25, 2009 Patrick P. (Austin, TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It is an impressive work. The book is indeed timely. To my knowledge there is no other work in the field covering all aspects of mobile broadband wireless. I believe that it will find an appreciative audience among people who'd like a reference book that encompasses both wireless and standards effort, graduate students and people who are very familiar with wireless but haven't followed the recent developments in 4th generation (WiMAX, LTE and beyond) and related technologies (IMS, Cognitive Radio, etc).
A comprehensive course on 4G June 27, 2009 Wireless (San Diego, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I found the book extremely comprehensive with its coverage and details in some section. It can be handy to grasp the 4G, to refer a quick topic in WiMAX, LTE standards, or to study MIMO, OFDMA and all IP networking in detail. I agree the reviewers above that there is a fine balance between qualitative ideas and mathematical basis behind key results. All in all, it is a timely book for networking people to understand the two prong ways of 4G; wimax and lte and also to see the other standards based on OFDMA such as cognitive radio, 802.22, 802.16j, 802.20, umb, etc.
a reference book February 6, 2010 K. Peet. (Boston, MA) I found the book very useful to learn some interesting topics on mobile broadband as well as seek information when needed during research and implementation.
